Knoxville's Gay Street Bridge To Close For Routine Inspection

The bridge will be closed to all vehicular traffic for parts of two days on June 8-9.

The Gay Street Bridge will be closed to all vehicular traffic for parts of two days on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 8-9, to accommodate an annual Tennessee Department of Transportation safety inspection.

The bridge will be closed both days from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The recommended southbound Gay Street detour route uses Cumberland Avenue, Henley Street, the Henley Bridge and Blount Avenue. Northbound motorists should use Blount, Henley Bridge, Henley Street and Main Street to reconnect to northbound Gay Street.

The Gay Street Bridge will remain open to pedestrians and bicyclists during the inspection, but they should use caution because of the presence of TDOT equipment.
