Local PGA Pro Tees it Up in 2021 KPMG Women's PGA Championship
PGA Professional Allie Knight looks to make a splash in Atlanta
Allie Knight, PGA Teaching Professional at Fairways and Greens Golf Center in Knoxville, Tennessee is making her debut in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship taking place at Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek, Georgia. She earned exemption into the field via a T-5 finish in the 2021 Women’s Stroke Play at PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie. Knight has experience on the Symetra Tour, having made 13 career cuts, including a career-best T-16 in the 2016 Symetra Classic, and has played in two U.S. Women’s Amateurs. Knight played college golf at Middle Tennessee State, where she was a First-Team All-Conference USA selection as a senior, after winning the 2015 Kansas City Shootout. Knight spearheaded MTSU’s first conference championship in school history and first NCAA Regional appearance.
Competing on TOUR each week is the primary job of professional golfers; however, what is unique about Knight and the PGA Professionals in the field is their day to day responsibilities at facilities like Fairways and Greens Golf Center, which are vastly different from competing on TOUR.
Knight finished Thursday's round one 6-over par (78).
