University Of Tennessee Unlikely To Increase Tuition

Tuition is likely to remain flat at the University of Tennessee's Knoxville and Chattanooga campuses for the first time in 34 years.

KNOXVILLE, TN — A crucial subcommittee voted Monday to keep tuition flat at two University of Tennessee campuses.

For the first time since 1984, students at Tennessee’s flagship public university are unlikely pay more for classes in the fall after the University of Tennessee’s subcommittee on tuition, fees and financial aid voted unanimously to keep tuition flat at UT’s Knoxville and Chattanooga campuses. Tuition at Martin will go up 3 percent under the proposal.

It also marks the fourth consecutive year with an increase below 3 percent at the main campus in Knoxville, the first time that’s happened in three decades.

The Financial and Administration Committee and the full Board of Trustees are scheduled to vote on the plan June 22.

In-state tuition and fees will hold at $12,970 for full-time in-state undergraduates and $31,390 for out-of-state students at Knoxville.
