Watts Bar Whopper: Tennessee Man Hauls In 51 Pound Catfish
A pair of fisherman combined for 82 pounds of blue catfish at a recent outing on an East Tennessee lake.

ROANE COUNTY, TN -- It's fish fry season across the South and a pair of East Tennessee anglers hauled in a pair of catfish that would keep more than a few congregations busy with the traditional springtime fundraiser.
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officer Brad Daughtery snapped a picture of two members of the East Tennessee Catfish Club - Matt Girman and Greg Capps - showing off their catch from Watts Bar Lake March 21.
Capps did pretty well, hauling in a blue catfish tipping the scales at 31 pounds. His pal, Girman, did even better: his whopper weighed in at an eye-popping 51 pounds.

But even adding the two big fish together doesn't come close to the state record, set by Robert E. Lewis. In 1998, fishing near Lock C on the Cumberland River near Cumberland City, Lewis landed a 112-pound blue cat.
