$1.3 Million In Illegal Pills Seized In Rutherford County
More than 58,000 illegally produced Xanax and more than a pound of alprazolam were seized at two Rutherford County locations.
MURFREESBORO, TN -- A massive bust of two clandestine pill labs resulted in the seizure of more than $1 million worth of illegal narcotics, according to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Department.
Detectives seized more than 58,000 Xanax pills and one pound of pure alprazolam powder - enough to make 200,000 doses of Xanax - during raids on two Rutherford County locations, the sheriff's department announced in a press release. Each pill would sell for about $5.
The pills were not made in pharmaceutical labs, but instead produced through illicit means.

The seizures come after a months-long investigation when a U.S. Postal inspector tipped off narcotics detective about suspicious packages being shipped from Murfreesboro, the department said.
Joseph Davis, 25, and Erica Dotson, 29, were the people mailing those packages, detectives say.
