17-Year-Old Shot, Injured By La Vergne Police

The TBI continues to investigate after a teenager was shot while fleeing a stop by La Vergne Police.

LA VERGNE, TN -- The person shot and injured by La Vergne Police Saturday is a 17-year-old, officials say.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says officers were attempting to pull over the teenager on Sand Hill Road when he allegedly began driving towards the officers. One of the police officers shot at the car, hitting the driver.

Despite being hit, the driver continued to drive another mile before crashing, the TBI said. He was taken to a hospital.

Neither the driver's name nor condition were released. The officer's name was also withheld.

The TBI is continuing to investigate.
