4 Ball Fields Slated For New Smyrna Park
Four baseball diamonds will be ready for play next year at Cedar Stone Park in Smyrna, the town's manager told the DNJ.

SMYRNA, TN — Four new ball fields will be ready for play by next year, Smyrna's town manager told the Daily News Journal.
The diamonds will be built at the 80-acre Cedar Stone Park on Morton Lane near the Stewarts Creek schools and across from a fire hall. The project at the as-yet-undeveloped park should be complete and ready for play by the summer or fall of 2018, Smyrna Town Manager Harry Gill told the newspaper. The $4 million cost will be spread over two years' budgets. It's been more than two decades since Smyrna added new ball fields and Gill told the DNJ the move will alleviate crowding as well as open up more opportunities for weekend-long travel tournaments hosted in Smyrna. Long-term, the Smyrna parks department plans 13 fields at the park, along with walking trails, a playground and picnic shelters.
