La Vergne High Student Arrested for Carrying a Gun on Campus

A 16-year-old male La Vergne High student faces charges of gun possession at a school and possession of a stolen gun.

LA VERGNE, TN — A La Vergne High School student was arrested Friday after a handgun was found in his backpack.

LHS' student resource officer was tipped off that the student was carrying a gun. He was immediately searched, the weapon located and the student was taken in custody, school officials said.

He was charged with possession of a weapon on school property and possession of a stolen gun. He was taken to juvenile detention and is awaiting arraignment in Rutherford County Juvenile Court.
