La Vergne High Student Shot Dead During Robbery Set-Up: Police

A 17-year-old La Vergne High School student was killed during an apparent robbery set-up Monday night.

LA VERGNE, TN -- A 17-year-old La Vergne High School student was shot and killed during an apparent robbery set-up involving an advertisement for an iPhone, according to police.

Yudjy F. Cherubin was "lured to a vacant condo" on George Buchanan Drive, police say based on an online advertisement offering the smartphone. At 7:40 p.m., someone called 911 to report "a boy got shot in the face."

Cherubin was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He died shortly after 10 p.m.

Shortly before midnight, police arrest a 17-year-old and then arrested a second 17-year-old Tuesday. Detectives continue to search for other witnesses and potentially other suspects.
