La Vergne Officer Shoots Man Fleeing Traffic Stop: TBI

The TBI is investigating after a La Vergne police officer shot a man allegedly fleeing a traffic stop.

LA VERGNE, TN -- A La Vergne police officer shot a man allegedly fleeing a traffic stop Saturday afternoon.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says officers were attempting to pull over a driver on Sand Hill Road when the driver allegedly began driving towards the officers. One of the police officers shot at the car, hitting the driver.

Despite being hit, the driver continued to drive another mile before crashing, the TBI said. He was taken to a hospital.

Neither the driver's name nor condition were released. The officer's name was also withheld.

The TBI is continuing to investigate.
