Smyrna's Independence Day celebration is set for July 3 with La Vergne following on the Fourth itself. Here's what you need to know.

SMYRNA, TN -- Independence Day is coming up fast and cities across the Midstate are gearing up for their annual fireworks displays and community gatherings.

Folks in northern Rutherford County who don't want to trek into Nashville for the massive Music City celebration have two options, with Smyrna holding its event on July 3 and La Vergne on July 4 itself.

When: July 3, 5 to 10 p.m.

Where: Lee Victory Park, 110 Sam Ridley Parkway East.

The annual free event at Lee Victory Park will begin with inflatables and train rides provided by C&R Railroad. Families can bring their own dinners to enjoy or buy from the numerous on-site vendors.

Music will be provided by 2nd & Vine with the fireworks show beginning just after dusk.

Between 8:45 and 9:45 p.m., the following roads will be closed:

  • Sam Ridley at Fitzhugh Boulevard
  • Sam Ridley at Nolan Drive
  • Sam Ridley at Threet Industrial Road

La Vergne

When: July 4, 5:30 to 10:30 p.m.

Where: Veteran's Memorial Park, 115 Floyd Mayfield Drive

Music from Missy Garnet and the Two Dollar Pistols begins at 6:30 p.m. Families are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs along with their own picnic dinner or to grab something from the numerous on-site vendors. Fireworks begin at dusk.
