Rutherford County School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Rutherford County is August 7. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Rutherford County School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

• 8/2: Administrative Day
• 8/3: In-Service Day 1
• 8/4: In-Service Day 2
• 8/7: First Day for Students (Abbreviated, 2 Hours)
• 8/8: No School for Students (Teacher Work Day)
• 8/9: First Full Day for Students

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)
• 9/5 - 9/7: Progress Reports
• 9/14: Early Dismissal (3 Hour, 15-Minute Day for Students)
• 9/29: End of First 9 Weeks

October

• 10/2 - 10/6: No School (Fall Break)
• 10/12: Report Cards
• 10/17: Parent / Teacher Conferences (Grades PK-5)
• 10/19: Parent / Teacher Conferences (Grades 6-12)
• 10/26: Early Dismissal (3 Hour, 15-Minute Day for Students)

November

• 11/7 - 11/9: Progress Reports
• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/21: Abbreviated Day for Students and Teachers (2 Hours); End of Second 9 Weeks
• 12/22 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1 - 1/4: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/5: No School for Students (In-Service Day)
