Rutherford County Schools Posts Seven-Year High on ACT
La Vergne and Stewarts Creek High Schools show big gains.

The 2016 graduating class posted a seven-year-high average ACT composite score of 20.2.
That's 0.8 points better than the state public school average and 0.3 better than the Class of 2015.
Stewarts Creek High School led the district in improvement with a 1.4 point increase to an average score of 20. La Vergne High School improved its average score by 0.7 points. The district did not immediately report Smyrna High's average.

Improving the scores on the now-required standardized test has been a focus of Director of Schools Don Odom's team.
“Our 2015-16 ACT district team that we developed last year and our administrators have been working diligently to improve the ACT scores and increase college readiness,” said Andrea Anthony, coordinator of secondary schools.

The district provides all students in grades 7 through 12 with ACT practice and prep software.
