Rutherford County Unemployment Down Slightly In March
Rutherford County's unemployment rate in March was the second-lowest in the state.

NASHVILLE, TN — Rutherford County's unemployment dipped slightly in March, down 0.1 from February to at 2.6 percent, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development, tied for the second-lowest rate in the state with Davidson County.
The unemployment rate decreased in 82 of the state's 95 counties, rose in four and was unchanged in nine others.
Of the ten lowest county-level figures statewide, nine were in Middle Tennessee. Only Williamson (2.5 percent) had a lower jobless rate than Rutherford County.

In Smyrna, the city-level unemployment rate is estimated at 2.6 percent, a 0.1 percent drop from February, and in La Vergne, it is at 2.9 percent, a 0.1 increase from the month before.
Rutherford County's unemployment rate has dropped 0.5 percent since March 2017.

The state rate, reported last week, is 3.4 percent, unchanged from February's adjusted figure.
