Singer Sewing Machine Parent To Open New La Vergne Headquarters

The corporate parent of the world's largest sewing machine manufacturer will move two miles to the old Whirlpool plant.

LA VERGNE, TN — The parent company of the world's largest manufacturer of sewing machines will relocate its headquarters two miles inside La Vergne.

SVP Worldwide, which makes Singer, Husqvarna Viking and Pffaf sewing machines, will relocate 140 employees from 1224 Heil Quaker to the office portion of the former Whirlpool facility at 1714 Heil Quaker. The company's CEO told The Tennessean the move is representative of a refocus of the company from " a dusty, low-performing category to a high-performing, high-tech company."

The company will make the move within two weeks. In part, it's to accommodate a larger research and development team as SVP realigns its focus from customers who sew out of necessity to those who do it as a hobby, CEO Paul Block told the newspaper.
