Smyrna Acid Attack: GoFundMe Launched For Victim
Christopher Phiouthong has burns from a highly corrosive acid over 60 percent of his body following an attack in his Smyrna home.

SMYRNA, TN -- A fundraising campaign is underway to help a Smyrna man who was attacked with acid inside his home April 5.
Christopher Phiouthong was assaulted in his home with "extremely corrosive acid." Smyrna Police continue to search for his attacker. Phiouthong has burns over 60 percent of his body. He has facial disfigurement and permanent blindness as a result of the vicious attack.
He remains in critical care at the hospital and has already been through numerous surgeries and faces more, according to a GoFundMe page launched to help pay his hospital bills.

According to the fundraising page, Phiouthong's parents are missionaries in Thailand and he is without health insurance.
"The battle for Christopher has just begun. He has a very long and difficult road ahead of him. While he has the help of his family and community, it will not be enough to support him through this grueling journey," the page reads.

As of Tuesday morning, the effort has collected more than $38,000 of the $100,000 goal.
