Smyrna Names New Town Manager
Brian Hercules will take over as Smyrna Town Manager from the retiring Harry Gill.

SMYRNA, TN — Brian Hercules, senior vice president of economic development for the Rutherford County Chanber of Commerce, will be Smyrna’s next town manager.
Harry Gill, Smyrna’s Town Manager since November 2013, announced in February that he will retire in August of this year. Though Hercules will come aboard July 1, Gill will stay with Smyrna until the end of August to enable a smooth transition.
“Brian Hercules is a tremendous addition to our team”, said Smyrna Mayor Mary Esther Reed. “His leadership abilities will continue to build upon the strong foundation laid by our previous Town Managers and help Smyrna move forward”.

Hercules worked with United Cities Gas Company/Atmos Energy as a sales representative, town manager and sales manager for the Southeastern Region. As sales manager, he directed residential, commercial and industrial marketing efforts for a three-state territory. In 2009, he left Atmos to become president/chief executive officer of the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon Counties.
He is a past board member of the Tennessee Economic Development Council Board of Directors, the Southern Economic Development Council and serves as Chair of the Tennessee Economic Partnership. He is also a past president of the Blue Raider Athletic Association and a member of the Murfreesboro Noon Rotary.
