Smyrna Preps For New Banner Ordinance
Smyrna's new banner ordinance goes into effect August 1, requiring a new fee.

SMYRNA, TN -- Smyrna isn't banning banners but the town will start requiring payment August 1.
The town amended its sign ordinance regarding banners with changes going into effect at the beginning of August.
Banner permits will be $30 and commercial and industrial lots will be allowed a maximum of two banners no larger than 16 square feet. Any single banner larger than 16 square feet will be permitted as two banners.

A banner permit is good for 30 days and may be renewed twice - for $30 each time - and banners will only be allowed for 90 days in a 365-day period.
The new law applies to both new banners erected on or after August 1, as well as existing banners.

Banner permits are available at City Hall, 315 South Lowry Street. Questions about permits can be sent via e-mail to Steve Smith, Building Official.
