Total Eclipse 2017 In Tennessee: La Vergne Plans Watch Party

An eclipse watch party at the La Vergne library includes food, music and free viewing glasses.

LA VERGNE, TN — The La Vergne Public Library is hosting a watch party for the total solar eclipse August 21.

The event will run from noon until 2 p.m. at the library at 5063 Murfreesboro Road. Free safe solar eclipse viewing glasses will be provided. (For more updates on this story and free news alerts for your neighborhood, sign up for your local Middle Tennessee Patch morning newsletter.)

In addition to watching the eclipse, which reaches totality in La Vergne at 1:29 p.m., lasting about 90 seconds, the library will have "eclipse themed" snacks and live music.

The viewing itself will be in the gazebo on the green space next to the library building.
