VCRs, Cars and a Salad Bar: Smyrna Sets Auction

Smyrna's online surplus and seizure auction begins Saturday.

SMYRNA, TN — Need a soft-serve machine on the cheap? Maybe a set of zebra-print chairs? What about a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis? Smyrna's latest online surplus auction has all that and oh-so-much more.

The auction will open Saturday and features items from nine city departments, plus a host of police seizures. The city's events center is offering up the most items, mostly furniture — including the aforementioned quartet of zebra-print chairs — but also food-service items, like a salad bar, perfect for the Shoney's-themed man-cave, and 600 china dinner plates, for the Rutherford County socialite looking to out-do Mrs. Astor by 200.

There's also some heavy hardware, like a flex-wing mower and a chop saw, plus exercise equipment and two VCRs, one of which is attached to a television.
