Spotlight on Jazzy: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®

"When we first learned Jazzy had cancer, it was like the rug was ripped out from under us," said Jazzy's mom, Mykel.

Jazzy is the youngest of three and the only girl. She’s the apple of her family’s eye. She enjoys making crafts and slime, and she likes to dance and read. Her favorite subject is math. When Jazzy’s family learned she had medulloblastoma, a rare brain cancer, they turned to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® for her treatment and care.

Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to more than 80 percent since it opened more than 50 years ago. St. Jude won’t stop until no child dies from cancer.

“When we first learned Jazzy had cancer, it was like the rug was ripped out from under us,” said Jazzy’s mom, Mykel. “But then we hit the ground running. We love her nurses and the staff here. Her doctor is brilliant.”

Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food – because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

“At St. Jude, they’ve made everything worry-free,” said Mykel. “We can focus on Jazzy.”

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® is supported by federal and military employees in the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace giving campaign, reaching approximately 10 million potential donors each year. Last year, CFC donors contributed nearly $81 million to thousands of local, national, and international causes in both funds and volunteer time.

Generous workplace giving campaign donors, like those in CFC, have helped find cures for children with cancer, supported injured military veterans and their families, provided meals and housing for those in need, and improved millions of lives, creating stronger, healthier communities for all of us.
