1 Dead In North Nashville Shooting

Metro Police found a 66-year-old man shot dead on 23rd Avenue North Sunday night in Nashville's sixth homicide this week.

NASHVILLE, TN -- Metro Police found a man shot dead in North Nashville Sunday night, marking the city's sixth homicide in a week.

A passerby called 911 around 9:30 p.m. Sunday and said he found a Frances Lumpkin, 66, on the ground near the intersection of 23rd Avenue North and Osage; the caller also noted he heard gunshots about a half hour earlier.

Lumpkin had multiple gunshot wounds and died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
