Celebratory Gunfire Injures 4 In Nashville

At least four people were hit by celebratory gunfire in Nashville on Fourth of July night.

NASHVILLE, TN -- Celebratory gunfire hurt four people watching the Nashville fireworks.

One woman watching fireworks on First Avenue was hit in the neck. No one in the area saw a gun.

Another woman was in a crowd near the Wildhorse Saloon when she felt a sharp pain in the neck. The woman walked to a nearby paramedic thinking she was struck by debris from the fireworks but, in fact, an X-ray showed bullet fragments.

Investigators believe she was hit by a bullet fired in the air in celebration that fell from the sky.

A 22-year-old woman watching the fireworks from the Birch Building was hit in the leg, though she didn’t realize it until she’d gotten home to Murfreesboro.

Finally, a man said he was watching the fireworks at First Avenue North and Church Street when, at 9:45 p.m., he felt something hit his chest and he told police he saw a bullet fall to the ground. He was not seriously injured.
