5 Ways to Help the Nashville Humane Association for the Holidays

Whether your contribution is monetary or service-based, learn how you can help the NHA this holiday season.

NASHVILLE, TN - The Nashville Humane Association (NHA) opened in 1946 and has continued to serve the neglected animals in Davidson county since it's creation. The holiday season brings with it different opportunities for members of the Nashville community to help out the NHA with their initiatives. Below are a few ways that you can contribute to the NHA.

Donate to the NHA. The contributions from members of the Nashville community allow the NHA to continue to provide care to animals in need. There are four different ways donate.

  • Online donations, depending on the amount, allow for you to become a member of the NHA. A contribution of $30 provides flea and tick treatment for 6 adopted animals. $60 provides microchips for 6 adopted animals, $100 is a comprehensive full body exam of an animal in need.
  • Mail in your donation to: Nashville Humane Association 213 Oceola Avenue Nashville, TN 37209
  • In Honor/Memory of a loved one - you can make a donation to honor a deceased person or pet
  • Monthly Donations: For your convenience, you can contact Jill Moore, director of philanthropy and set up a consistent contribution. She can be reached at 615-354-6344 or jill@nashvillehumane.org

Volunteer with the NHA. Before beginning the application process, make sure to review the guidelines. The NHA requires the assistance of community members in order to provide the services they do to animals in need. The NHA recognizes the efforts of their volunteers with the Volunteer of the Month program. Some of the different positions available for volunteers are:

  • Donation Canister Assistant
  • Cat Socializer
  • Community Events Assistant
  • Development Department Assistant
  • Dog Walker / Puppy Socializer
  • Facility Operations Assistant
  • Food Bank Volunteer
  • Foster Care Provider
  • Pet Visitation Volunteer
  • Teddy’s Wagon Off-Site Adoption Assistant

Community Pet Food Bank is a way for members of the Nashville community to contribute cans of pet food to the NHA. The NHA draws from this food bank to feed the different neglected pets that they care for. Donate cans of pet food on the first Sunday and third Wednesday of each month. The food bank is volunteer operated and open from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.

Kids Can Help too. The NHA is unique because it has a special program that allows children in the Nashville community to volunteer as well. You can take a look at the different ideas for kids to support the NHA. A few options are: organize a community food drive, create posters and flyers or start a fundraiser.
