59 Nashville Sex Offenders Found In Violation In Halloween Sweep

The annual "Operation Blackout" discovered 59 Nashville sex offenders violating the Halloween rules.

NASHVILLE, TN ― Metro Nashville Police and Tennessee Department of Correction officials have found 59 Davidson County sex offenders in violation of the rules for Halloween so far, as Operation Blackout continues.

During Tennessee's annual Operation Blackout, probation and parole officers conduct full-home searches of people on the state's sex offender registry in the days before trick-or-treating and make sure those people are aware of the rules. So far, checks have been made of 377 Davidson County offenders.

Restrictions on people who are listed on the registry include:

  • Must be inside of their homes from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Halloween night
  • Porch lights must be off
  • They cannot wear costumes.
  • They cannot have any Halloween decorations.
  • Not allowed to open their doors to trick-or-treaters.

In addition, officers are making checks that the people on the registry are abiding by the standard restrictions regarding, for example, the use of narcotics and social-media accounts.
