Basketball Court Shooting Victim Dies; Police Search For Gunmen

A 25-year-old man shot at a North Nashville park earlier this month died from his injuries and police are searching for the shooters.

NASHVILLE, TN -- A 25-year-old man shot at a basketball court at a North Nashville park died from his injuries and the search for the gunmen continues.

Metro Police officers found Anthony Dewayne Breadfort Jr. wounded on a basketball court at Oakwood Park shortly before 6:30 p.m. June 2. Though he was critically wounded, with shots to the head and hand, Breadfort was alert when police arrived and was able to speak to officers before he was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Breadfort died nine days later.

People who were near the basketball court told police the shooters were two other men, both also in their mid-20s. Investigators do not know of a motive.
