Body Pulled From Cumberland

Nashville firefighters pulled a body which had been in the water "for some time" from the Cumberland River Wednesday night.

NASHVILLE, TN -- Nashville firefighters pulled a body from the Cumberland River Wednesday night.

The Nashville Fire Department and Emergency Operations Center personnel removed the body from the river near Cleece's Ferry around 8:30 p.m. At 5:15 p.m., a fisherman reported he saw the body floating on a piece of driftwood near Rock Harbor Marina a few miles upriver.

"It appears the person has been in the water for some time," NFD tweeted.

The deceased was identified only as a white male. An investigation into the man's identity and the cause of death.
