The driver of a 2012 Honda Accord whose car struck the side of a moving train just after 3 a.m. today on 12th Avenue North near Clinton Street died at the scene. He is identified as Justin L. Ware, 25, of Nashville.

The investigation shows that Ware was traveling south on 12th Avenue North. It is believed the railroad crossing arms were down, and that the Honda continued through the warning and hit the side of the train. The train did not stop, as the engineer likely did not know that it had been impacted by a car. The train was later located.
As is routine, the medical examiner will work to determine whether alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.
