Fueling Up For Thanksgiving: Pump Prices Dip Slightly Across TN

Fuel prices are starting to come down a bit throughout Tennessee, but Davidson and Williamson have some of the state's most expensive gas.

NASHVILLE, TN — Thanksgiving week marks the traditional beginning of the holiday driving season, as families crisscross the country to share a meal with their kin. While fuel prices are higher than last year, which marked a seven-year low for Turkey Day gas, and higher than even one month ago, the price is starting to come down.

AAA reports that Tennessee's average fuel price for regular unleaded was $2.31 per gallon, down 2.5 cents from last week. Still, the price is up about 3 cents from a month ago and some 35 cents from the beginning of Thanksgiving Week 2016.

By county, the highest average price was in Williamson at $2.539 — a full dime higher than the second-most expensive. Drivers in Williamson County could save an average of 17 cents simply by crossing Old Hickory Boulevard into Davidson County or an astounding 30 cents by going into Rutherford County, where the average gallon of regular unleaded costs $2.238, the third-lowest county average in Middle Tennessee.
