Left Off Guest List, Party Pooper Sets House Ablaze: Police

A woman upset about not being invited to a party tried to set a North Nashville house on fire, according to police.

NASHVILLE, TN -- Angry at not being invited to a party, a Nashville woman tried setting a house on fire, according to Metro Police.

Investigators say Shameka Howse showed up at a house on 29th Avenue North June 28, riding with an unknown man in a pick-up truck. When she arrived, she allegedly began screaming at the partygoers about not being invited.

Witnesses told police Howse tried picking fights with people at the party and then yelled "OK. I'm going to burn your house down." She then allegedly went to the truck, grabbed a jug of lighter fluid, poured it on the front window of the home and set it ablaze with a butane lighter.

Howse and the man then sped away. The people at the party extinguished the fire before it caused serious damage; no one was hurt.

Howse, 38, is charged with aggravated arson, reckless endangerment and vandalism.
