Man Choked, Bit Nashville Officers: Police

During his booking, a man allegedly choked one Metro Police officer and bit and tried to gouge the eyes of another.

NASHVILLE, TN - A man allegedly assaulted two Metro Nashville police officers Tuesday, choking one and biting another.

Officers arrested John Cheatham Jr., 44, Tuesday for trespassing at a truck stop where he'd allegedly been arguing with employees and refusing to leave.

According to an affidavit, Cheatham was uncooperative during booking, grabbing a chair and refusing to let go until he was pepper sprayed.

Cheatham then allegedly charged at one of the officers and both went to the ground where Cheaham reportedly began to choke the officer who said he nearly lost consciousness. A second officer pressed on Cheatham's eyes to get him off the first officer, according to the report. Cheatham then allegedly attempted to gouge that officer's eyes out and bit the officer on the inner thigh.

Cheatham is charged with two counts of assaulting an officer, disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing.
