Man Shot Breaking Up Fight In North Nashville

A 42-year-old man was shot Monday in North Nashville while trying to ease tension between a convicted felon and his child's mother.

NASHVILLE, TN -- A 42-year-old man trying to calm an altercation between a North Nashville business owner and her child's father was shot by the latter Monday night, police say, and the alleged gunman is still on the run.

Metro Police said that 30-year-old Deundre Bridges, who has previous cocaine convictions and is currently free on bond on domestic assault and drug charges, came to Cameron's Janitorial Service in the 1200 block of Jefferson Street Monday night and began arguing with the business's owner, the mother of his child.

Investigators say Troy Zains tried to intervene in the argument and was shot in the abdomen by Bridges, who then fled the scene.
