Man Shot Dead While Visting Friend In North Nashville
A 40-year-old man died after he was shot while visiting a friend in North Nashville, police say.

NASHVILLE, TN -- A 40-year-old man died after an early morning shooting in North Nashville Wednesday.
Metro Police said Antonio Batts was visiting with a friend in the 1600 block of 16th Avenue North around 1 a.m. when a gunman walked up, fired several shots and ran away. Batts went to a nearby home for help; he died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center later Wednesday morning.
Police did not have a suspect description immediately available but detectives are examining if the shooting is connected to Batts' past; he has a lengthy criminal history and was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in 2016.
