Nashville Among 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup Hosts

Nashville is among the 15 cities selected to host games for the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup soccer tournament.

NASHVILLE, TN — Nashville will once again host games in North America’s continental soccer championship.

CONCACAF, the governing body for the sport in North and Central America and the Caribbean, announced Thursday that Nashville is among the 15 cities set to host games in the 2019 Gold Cup.

"We're thrilled to welcome the Gold Cup back to Nashville next year," Metro Nashville Mayor David Briley said in a press release. "Soccer is growing and thriving here, and CONCACAF and its teams and fans will get the same warm welcome all our visitors receive - plus a lot of loud cheers and chants ringing through Nissan Stadium. The Gold Cup will be another great showcase for 'the beautiful game' in our beautiful city."

The competition features 16 teams; six — the United States, Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, Honduras and Trinidad and Tobago — have already qualified.

A schedule and venues will be set once qualifying is complete next year.

The U.S. team and Panama drew 1-1 in the last Gold Cup game at Nissan Stadium in 2017.
