Nashville Area Sets May Home Sales Mark

Nearly 4,000 homes sold in the nine-county Nashville region in May, a record for the month.

NASHVILLE, TN — Last month was the best May ever for home sales in the Nashville region, according to the Greater Nashville Association of Realtors.

The trade association reported that 3,943 homes sold in May, an increase of 6.6 percent over May 2016 and the most ever sold in May since tracking began. That comes even as supply is dwindling, reflected in he median price of $279,142, also a record. There were 5,580 single-family homes on the market, a less than two month supply, an astonishingly low amount. Typically, inventory begins climbing in May as families put homes on the market during the summer months.

On average, homes sold in May spent 27 days on the market, five days fewer than May 2016 and three fewer than April.
