NASHVILLE, TN -- After near-record high temperatures and heat indices near 100 Monday, rain rolls in for the rest of the week, according to the National Weather Service forecast for Nashville. Temperatures will slide back into the low- to mid-80s by week's end.
Monday: Mostly sunny, high of 93, with a heat index near 97. Clear in the evening, low of 70.
Tuesday: Partly sunny with a 20 percent chance of showers and storms after 1 p.m., high of 92. Mostly clear overnight with a 30 percent chance of showers and storms before 1 a.m., low of 69.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers and storms, high of 87. Mostly cloudy after sundown with a 50 percent chance of showers and storms, low of 67.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy with a 50 percent chance of showers and storms, high of 83. Mostly cloudy in the evening, with a 40 percent chance of showers after 8 p.m., low of 66.
