Nashville Detectives Seek Public's Assistance In Identifying Gunman Who Fatally Shot Gerald Leroy Jr.

Police say the two men got into a physical altercation in a parking lot in the 3900 block of Preston Taylor Place on Friday afternoon.

Homicide Unit detectives are working to identify the gunman who Friday at 3:30 p.m. fatally shot Gerald Leroy Jr., 41, after the pair got into a physical altercation in a parking lot in the 3900 block of Preston Taylor Place in the Preston Taylor Homes.

The men arrived together in Leroy’s car and stopped near the exit of the parking lot. They both got out of the vehicle and began arguing. The two then engaged in a physical struggle prior to the suspect pulling out a gun and shooting Leroy. He fled on foot.

Leroy lived nearby and his girlfriend/roommate heard the gunshots. She found him lying on the ground next to his vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds. She then drove him in the car to Centennial Medical Center where he died.

The suspect is a black man with a high top fade hair cut who appears to be in his late teens or early 20s. He is approximately six feet tall with a thin build. He wore a red and white shirt, faded jeans and white tennis shoes.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect from the attached surveillance photo is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
