Nashville Scooter Hit-And-Run Injures 2, 1 Critically
Two women riding Bird scooters were injured in a downtown hit and run Sunday evening.

NASHVILLE, TN -- A downtown Nashville hit-and-run injured two women - one critically - who were riding Bird scooters Sunday evening.
Metro Police said the women were crossing the intersection of Union Street and Fifth Avenue when a Lexus turning left onto Union hit both women and drove away. Witnesses disagree as to if the scooters or Lexus had the green light.

The car was identified after investigators reviewed surveillance footage. It also left its bumper on the scene
The women using the scooter-sharing service were not identified. One woman was alert when paramedics arrived and after they rendered first aid, she was taken to the hospital. The second woman was immediately transported to the hospital and has critical and life-threatening injuries, police said.

Just two days after its Nashville launch, Bird received a cease-and-desist letter from Metro attorneys, saying that Metro lacked the legislative and regulatory framework for the scooter-sharing service to operate in public rights-of-way.
