The investigation, being led by Homicide Unit Detective Russ Thompson, shows that Grier had just returned to the apartment with his mother when he ran past her to the kitchen and retrieved a knife. She reported that Grier had been acting out this week and she went to a neighbor’s apartment to call police. She then saw Grier run from the apartment. When she returned and went upstairs to check on Jones, she found him bleeding from multiple stab wounds. Jones died shortly after arriving at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Grier was located in a nearby wooded area by South Precinct officers and taken into custody. Grier has been interviewed at police headquarters and will be booked tonight at Juvenile Court.
