Greenhouse Ministries: Greenhouse Ministries is a nonprofit organization that offers a holistic approach to helping people. Greenhouse Ministries offers to help, educate and connect. Greenhouse helps by providing food, clothes, toiletries, household items, legal clinic, nursing clinic, and much more. Greenhouse educates by offering classes from budgeting to GED tutoring. Greenhouse connects by connecting clients with jobs, housing and other resources.

Greenhouse was co-founded by Cliff and Jane Sharp in 1999 after the couple worked for the local pregnancy center and had a calling to serve those in need. Seventeen years later, Greenhouse Ministries has thrived and acquires donations of food, furniture and clothing every day, and every day the organization provides those items for individuals and families in need. Built on Christian principles, the motto of Greenhouse is “planting hope in the ‘Boro,” and the organization strives to help clients go from needing to giving back.

Patch: How does your organization help to strengthen the local community?

Greenhouse Ministries: Greenhouse Ministries is unique because we are a holistic approach to helping the community. While we do give out basic needs items such as food, clothing, toiletries, we are so much more than that. We offer education classes free of charge to help with whatever the client might be lacking. We also have an occupational therapy clinic, nursing clinic, legal clinic, Veterans for Volunteers program, and much more. Finally, we connect our clients with other resources such as job opportunities and other nonprofits that might be able to better assist. We believe in forming a relationship with our clients and journeying through life with them.

Patch: What is the biggest struggle your organization faces?

Greenhouse Ministries: Getting all of the funding needed to fund our programs.

Patch: What do you hope for the future of your nonprofit?

Greenhouse Ministries: Our hope for the future is to continue growing the programs we have currently while also create new programs to better serve our community.
