Nurse Serenades Cancer Patient Days Before Her Death (VIDEO)
The nurse sang to the cancer patient shortly after she was told she was too ill to receive the liver transplant she needed.

NASHVILLE, TN — A nurse at Vanderbilt University Medical Center held a dying cancer patient's hand days before she died and sang a song that was special to the patient, something that so touched 63-year-old Margaret Smith that she called the nurse her "angel."
The video of the nurse, Olivia Neufelder, serenading Smith was shared to Facebook by Smith's daughter Megan Smith. "This nurse sat with my mom for hours while the medicine from too much Anesthesia and sang a very special song to my sweet mother to comfort her," Smith wrote.
Neufelder sang Dani and Lizzy’s “Dancing in the Sky,” to Smith. The nurse held back tears as she sang. According to a GoFundMe page set up for Smith, she died earlier this week of liver cancer. The page has raised over $3,000 for Smith's funeral expenses.

Doctors had told Smith she was too ill to receive the liver transplant she had been waiting for, The Washington Post reported. Neufelder spoke with The Post saying Smith took her hand and told her she did not want to die. As family gathered around her later in the day, Neufelder decided to sing.
