Road-Raging Mercedes Driver Rams Golf Cart: Nashville Police
Police charged a 72-year-old man with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill after he rammed a golf cart downtown.

NASHVILLE, TN -- A 72-year-old Nashville man, apparently angry he was stuck behind a golf cart downtown, rammed it three times with his Mercedes Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
Paul Edward Swearns is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. Investigators say Swearns was driving west on Broadway near Fifth around 1:30 Wednesday afternoon and began making cursing at the driver of a golf cart operated by Joyride. Swearns then rammed the golf cart at least three times, police say, damaging it and injuring the driver.
Passersby flagged down an off-duty officer at nearby construction site, who detained Swearns until police arrived.

Police said Swearns had a "slight odor" of alcohol and he admitted to drinking one beer hours earlier at home; he completed field sobriety tests competently.
