NASHVILLE, TN - Whether it's providing children in need with books, a chance to play organized sports or a free ride on a Harley Davidson, Nashville celebrities contributed to the community in a variety of ways in 2016.
Imagination Library is Dolly Parton's charity of choice. Since it's founding in 1995, Imagination Library has mailed over 80 million books to kids in need all over the United States. The foundation seeks to foster a love of reading in young children, and offers local literature and learning programs in over 1600 communities. Over 1 million children in the Nashville area are registered with Imagination Library. You can support Imagination Library by donating to the foundation online, or by purchasing one of Dolly's books.
Farm Aid was founded by Willie Nelson in 1985. This organization provides resources and support to local family-owned farms across the nation, and it got its start in Nashville. In addition to the annual Farm Aid concert, which features artists and musicians from all over the country, Farm Aid created the 'Growing the Good Food' movement. This project strives to create more local farmers markets in order to create strong community connections between farmers and vendors. Growing the Food created 3 additional farmers markets in the Nashville and surrounding Tennessee areas. You can support Farm Aid by purchasing a 30 Years of Giving Quilt or by making a monetary donation.

Miles and Music For Kids is a charitable organization founded by country music star Dierks Bently. The organization provides children suffering from terminal illnesses with free motorcycle rides and free tickets to see their favorite musicians perform live. You can donate to Miles and Music and help support the children at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
Teammates For Kids was founded by Garth Brooks and provides children from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds with the chance to play team sports together, for free. Since it's founding in 1999, Teammates For Kids has distributed over $80 million dollars worth of sports equipment, coaching and athletic training. You can donate to Teammates For Kids and give Nashville children in need the opportunity to play basketball, football or baseball for free. Teammates for Kids funded the creation of 8 different sports teams in Nashville during 2016.
