Wow House: Northern Italy In Northumberland
WOW House: A Northern Italian villa in Northumberland, built for a man from Northern Ireland.
NASHVILLE, TN -- Ian Brick was born in East Belfast, Northern Ireland, U.K., earned a PhD in pharmacology, moved to America, settling in Nashville in 1987, starting a pharmaceutical company in 1990 and selling it four years later, moving into an early retirement. Brick died in 2015, but his legacy lives on in a number of ways. First, the student union bar at Queen's University, Belfast, is named "Brickie's" in his honor after a $1 million donation; he was later made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in honor of his service to education in Northern Ireland. Second, he spearheaded the effort that made Nashville and Belfast sister cities.
And then there's this house, a sprawling villa that wouldn't look out of place in Northern Italy except that it's in Northumberland in Forest Hills. Sitting on two acres atop a hill, it offers enviable views inside and out.
