'You Look Like An Idiot': CEO Fired For Mocking Teen’s Prom Dress
Dalton Stevens urged others to "wear what makes you happy" after the Tennessee teen was publicly berated by the former CEO of Visuwell.
FRANKLIN, TN — A Tennessee telemedicine company has parted ways with its chief executive officer after he was captured in a viral video publicly berating a teen for his prom dress.
A TikTok video posted Saturday and shared across several social media platforms shows then-Visuwell CEO Sam Johnson mocking Dalton Stevens and his bold, floor-length red dress.
“You look like an idiot,” Johnson can be heard saying on the video captured by Stevens’ boyfriend.

Stevens wore the dress because he views clothing as “genderless,” he told Nashville-based WKRN.
“I was very confident,” Stevens told the television station. “I knew that I felt beautiful, and I felt great.”

In a statement posted to Twitter, Visuwell identified Johnson, condemning his behavior and confirming his termination from the company.
“Visuwell’s culture emphasizes respect, kindness, and compassion, especially those from traditionally marginalized communities, and we maintain a zero-tolerance policy for intolerance of any kind,” the statement read.
Stevens also drew praise from celebrities including actor Billy Porter, who took his own approach to genderless attire when he wore a tailored suit jacket over a flowing velvet skirt to the 2019 Academy Awards ceremony. Porter posted a TikTok of Stevens' dress on his Instagram.
"I want people to take away that you truly can be whoever you want and you shouldn't let anybody tear you down," Stevens told The Tennessean. "Just wear what makes you happy and what makes you feel beautiful."
