Border Patrol Cars Crash Into Each Other While Chasing Smuggler
Agents responding to a smuggling incident collided with one another and damaged a home Thursday morning in Mission.
MISSION, TX — Two Border Patrol vehicles chasing a suspected smuggler crashed into one another in Mission Thursday, according to Customs and Border Protection and reports from the scene. Images from the scene showed a Border Patrol SUV and a van with emergency medical markings on its side had come to a stop in the front yard of a home.
Around 10:20 a.m., the two marked units struck each other near the intersection of Oblate and 7th streets, according to a statement from Customs and Border Protection.
Two agents involved in the crash were transported to a local hospital with injuries that were not described as life-threatening.

The homeowner whose property was left damaged by the crash told KVEO that the two cars had been chasing a driver smuggling immigrants at the time of the crash.
According to the Border Patrol, the agents were assigned to the McAllen Station and “responding to a smuggling event” at the time of the crash.

Mission is located about 240 miles south of San Antonio in the Rio Grande Valley and on the U.S.-Mexico border.
