More Than 260 Pounds Of Marijuana Seized At Border

VALENTINE, TX -- U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Van Horn Station seize roughly 264 pounds of marijuana Monday morning. The marijuana was seized at about 5 a.m. after five individuals attempting to conceal themselves were found carrying five large sugar sack backpacks in a culvert, border patrol said in a news release.

The subjects absconded once the agents approached, leaving the sugar sack backpacks behind. The contents within the backpacks tested positive for marijuana. The narcotics were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further processing. Arrests are still pending for this seizure.
