Popular Apples Recalled In Texas

Apples distributed to wholesalers and retailers in Texas have been recalled this season. The apples, which are from Michigan, are possibly contaminated with Listeria.

The recalled apples include McIntosh, Honeycrisp, Jonathan, Fuji, Jonamac and Red Delicious apples.

North Bay Produce, Inc. of Traverse City, Michigan voluntarily recalled 2,297 cases and two bulk bins of fresh apples due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

The apples were sold in plastic bags under the brand Great Lakes and North Bay Produce Pure Michigan, as well as unbranded in plastic totes and display trays.

The recalled apples were shipped between Oct. 16 to 21 from one North Bay facility to wholesalers, retailers and brokers in Michigan as well as Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin

Apples purchased at retail prior to Oct. 16 are not affected by this recall, and no other North Bay Produce products are affected by this recall, producers said.

So far, there are no reports of illnesses from this recall.

The apples should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
