Principal Placed On Leave Over Controversial Facebook Comment

William Dugat, of Lufkin Middle School, made the comment in response to a photo of Beto O'Rourke.

LUFKIN, TX -- The principal of Lufkin Middle School, roughly 120 miles north of Houston, has been placed on administrative leave after making a controversial comment on Facebook about immigration. The comment was made late last week by William Dugat in response to a photo a woman posted of her and Beto O'Rourke, a congressman from El Paso, Texas, facing off against Sen. Ted Cruz in the midterm elections.

"I worry about the USA looking like Mexico and South America with so many illegal aliens being welcomed to our country," the comment stated, according to a screengrab preserved by the Lufkin Daily News. "Guess we are doomed to have a dirty country either way."

Lufkin ISD spokeswoman Sheila Adams told the Lufkin Daily News that the district does not support or condone the comments made by Dugat.
