Schlitterbahn Water Parks In New Braunfels, Galveston Sold
Ohio-based Cedar Fair Entertainment announced the purchase of both water parks for $261 million on Thursday.

The owners of Schlitterbahn Water Park and Resort in New Braunfels, and Schlitterbahn Water Park in Galveston have sold the parks, the Henry family announced Thursday. Ohio-based Cedar Fair Entertainment will pay $261 million for the two water parks, and a former Schlitterbahn property in Kansas City, Kansas for $6 million.
"We are very excited about the opportunity to bring these two award-winning Texas water parks into the Cedar Fair family," Richard Zimmerman, Cedar Fair’s president and CEO said in a statement.
Zimmerman added that the acquisition of the two parks represent new markets for Cedar Fair, and promised the transition would be smooth.

Although the sale has been somewhat in the works for months, the decision to sell the properties was bittersweet for the Henry Family. Representatives said it was Cedar Fair's commitment to maintaining the Schlitterbahn brand that helped seal the deal.
"Rest assured, the future of Schlitterbahn Waterparks and Resorts is as bright as a July day in Texas. We will always be your hottest, coolest time in Texas," the Henry Family said in a statement.
